Sattelbaum

Saddletree

The very basic part of a westernsaddle is the saddletree. This rigid core has to distribute the rider's weight evenly on the horses back to avoid punctual pressure. To ensure this function, the saddletree has to meet a series of requirements.

Some requirements ...

  • The angles of the saddletree have to fit the angles of the horse
  • The width of the saddletree has to fit the width of the horse
  • Edges and corners have to be rounded all over so that nothing hard-bordered or sharp is touching the horse anywhere
  • Throughout the shoulder area the saddletree must only "lean" rounded at the shoulder, to avoid restrictions to the rotation movement. Too straight trees without flair should not be used
  • The shape of the tree must be custom tailored to the horse and the style of riding
  • Highest attention should be paid to the symmetry of the tree

We produce all our saddletrees in our main facility in Austria and that is why we are able to ensure consistently high quality. We are particulary proud of the fact that throughout our companies history we had never experienced a broken saddletree. No matter what style of riding you prefer or what discipline you like to use it for, we put all our "know-how" and many years of research into the production of our saddletrees.

We love to help you finding the perfect saddletree.
